Materials used for Ariete oil seals:

• Nitrile, Buna-N 70 is the standard elastomer generally used for our oil seals and is suitable for most engine applications. The Nitrile lip works excellently within a temperature range of -35°C to +125°C and is resistant to many mineral oils and greases.
• Silicone, a premium elastomer used for higher temperature resistance. It finds its ideal use between -65°C and +190°C.
• Viton is the most valuable fluorinated elastomer. It offers very high temperature resistance in an operating range of -40°C to +210°C. This material has excellent resistance to oils, acids and other substances that are destructive to Nitrile or Silicones. It is extremely abrasion resistant and has exceptional performance. It can be used in critical conditions that would otherwise not be resolved.

Structural metal reinforcements and sealing springs: unless expressly specified, all structural metal reinforcements in Ariete oil seals are made from high carbon steel. In applications where corrosion could be a problem, stainless steel is used and the external elastomeric coating further protects the oil seal.

Ariete oil seals for rotating shafts are produced with an elastomeric compound specifically designed to withstand the oils and temperatures normally found in engines.
